Dear Friends,
The Feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica reminds us that the Church is a living temple built of people united in Christ. The Basilica of St. John Lateran, referred to as the cathedral of the Bishop of Rome, stands as a visible sign of unity between all Christian communities and the successor of Peter. But the celebration is not just about a physical structure but about what the temple represents: the dwelling place of God among His people.
The true temple is Christ Himself, in whom God fully dwells. From His pierced side on the cross, like the stream in Ezekiel’s vision, flows blood and water—the sacraments that give life to the Church. God’s Spirit truly dwells within us. Each of us is a sacred space where God desires to make His presence known and His mercy felt. Let us ask today for the grace to be truly the living temples, holy and life-giving—where others may encounter the living God.
