The costly love of God

Dear friends, it is only on rare occasions that we see or hear that one suffers for the one he or she loves. And he or she undergoes the suffering on the ground that his or her beloved appreciates or has the same measure of love. Our Lord underwent the excruciating passion for those who refused to accept his Love. He suffered even for those who hated him. Through his suffering, he demonstrated God’s costly love for man. Though“His state was divine, yet he did not cling to his equality with God but emptied himself to assume the condition of a slave, and became as men are; and being as all men are, he was humbler yet, even to accepting death, death on a cross.” May God help to appreciate always the sacrifice he made for our sake.
